To mark the launch of Silences: revue interdisciplinaire at the Paris Nord incubator, the Maison des sciences de l'homme and the École des hautes études en sciences sociales are organizing an event devoted to the notion of silence and how it is addressed by the humanities, social sciences and art. Bringing together those involved in the "Arts et Intelligences du Silence" research program being conducted at EHESS between 2020 and 2024, this afternoon is intended to provide an overview of the wealth of questions raised by the theme of silence in the apprehension of social phenomena. Photographer Philippe Dollo will present a lecture-projection on his work in contemporary Spain around the silence of the Civil War and the Franco years, the subject of his book No pasa nada. The publishers of Silences magazine will then present the context of its creation, its intellectual objectives and the content of the first issues, in the presence of the authors. At the end of the afternoon, a musical performance by Emanuele Coco and Francesca Bearzatti will address the silence of sirens. The afternoon will conclude with a time of friendly exchange.
